In an age of rapidly flowing information, access to knowledge has never been more convenient. Through tools such as Google and ChatGPT, people can obtain large amounts of information in a short period of time. For students, however, the real challenge is not simply whether they can find answers, but whether they can ask valuable and meaningful questions. As educators, our important mission is to guide students in adapting to future social changes and developing the core competencies they will need.
We were honored to visit Escola dos Operários in Macao and exchange ideas with more than 100 outstanding teachers. We deeply felt the school’s forward-looking vision and strong commitment to educational development. The school actively responds to the trends of the times, values the cultivation of students’ core competencies, and leads teachers in continuously exploring new directions for integrating artificial intelligence into teaching, demonstrating a high level of educational vision and professionalism.
According to related research by the World Economic Forum, important future work skills include analytical and innovative thinking, active learning, and the ability to solve complex problems. Among these, problem-solving is a core capability that cannot be overlooked in education. As Chien Lee-Feng, former General Manager of Google Taiwan, has pointed out, future children will not lack opportunities; what will be truly scarce is the ability to ask good questions. In the rapid development of generative AI, students who lack questioning skills may lose opportunities for deep learning and active exploration. Therefore, the focus of education is shifting from simply pursuing answers to cultivating high-quality questioning and critical thinking.
This seminar aimed to help teachers better understand the role of artificial intelligence in education and explore how AI can change teaching methods and learning experiences. The content included case sharing, group discussion, and hands-on practice, combining theory and application. We hope it lays a foundation for teachers to integrate AI effectively into everyday teaching.
Looking ahead, we hope to work with more high-quality schools like Escola dos Operários, which value innovation and forward-looking education, to continue advancing the practice and development of AI education and to build a more dynamic and promising future education ecosystem together.
